This commentary elaborates on the role of “grounding” as a focal theoretical concept and tries to contextualise the claims formulated by the paper at hand in previous CSCL discussions. It tries to give fingerposts for enriching and refining the concept of grounding from a pedagogical point view. It also suggests to use mutual awareness of eye-gaze in the context of dialogical learning.
